Patch 1:
  • Fixed and error when using the tile button with items that don't have tile selection
  • Area timer does not run when the game is paused.
  • Fixed an error message when warping in the overworld with one player.
  • Fixed a screen shake issue when using a bottom course boundary.
Patch 2:
  • Fixed an error message when trying to delete an overworld.
  • Fixed an error when Player 2 collects certain items.
  • Fixed a bug where Area view settings do not select correctly.
  • Fixed a bug with custom item sound effect selection not working properly.
  • Fixed several issues when working with uploaded tilesets.
  • Fixed an issue appling a custom item to the wrong character.
  • Game view is further ahead in runner games
Updates:
  • The Builder has received a major upgrade in both looks and usability.
  • The resource chain in now an item box which can be displayed and manipulated in order to increase productivity. Check out he manual for more information, or view the updated tutorial.
  • The find button has been removed. Instead, you can search for items by clicking on the display text in your workstation.
  • Removed Rapid Button. All placement is rapid.
  • Platform Builder Pro now lets you work with multiple characters.
  • Added Xbox 360 Controller compatibility. See the control setup from the main menu.
  • Added "Sound Effects" to Game Setup. This allows you to modify sound effects and upload your own if you use Pro. Included are over 75 new sound effects to choose from.
  • Added multiplayer Co-op mode, by popular request. That was a headache. But it's awesome!
  • Added several different view sizes (in the world and course settings.)
  • Platform Builder Pro now lets you use characters as Non-playable characters that can talk to the player, give an item, etc.
  • Added music selection to main menu options
  • Added Sword and Keys as items for custom enemy rewards
  • Added controls for character speed in the overworld.
  • Added several new clothing items for the character designer.
  • Character Designer has moved to its own manager.
  • Character Designer now has color palette selection.
  • Touched up some of the different parts of the character pieces in the character manager.
  • Improved the look of character death as "falling."
  • Improved the look of bald characters.
  • Key setup controls have been created for up, down, left and right movements.
  • Numpad keys are now valid keys for key setup.
  • Custom projectiles now let you select the sound effect.
  • The game window will launch centered to the display of your computer screen.
  • Resizing the game window takes less time.
  • Mouse wheel can be used to sift through subcategories of items, music selection, and find feature.
  • Mouse middle button can be used to click and drag the editor view.
  • Grid button selection can move backwards if you hold backspace as you click on it.
  • In course editor, if you are using 16x16 placement, holding "G" will cause the grid button to temporarily switch to a 32x32 patterns according to where the curser is.
  • Main menu "Build" and "Play" options have been combined to one.
  • Lives for your game have been moved from "character settings" to "other settings" in Game Setup.
  • The example file will save changes you make after closing Platform Builder. A new option has been added to let you restore it back whenever you wish.
  • Game Setup test rooms have been modified to make them more suitable for testing.
  • Some of the swim physics have been improved.
  • Cut, Copy, and Paste controls can now be used in text editors.
  • Moving items around in the manager is no longer done with the arrow buttons, but by clicking and dragging.
  • Moving items with the move tool can now be down with a click-and-drag motion.
  • Maximum character count for manager items has increased from 16 to 20.
  • Maximum HP for custom enemy has been raised to 50.
  • Maximum separation for custom tiles to 10.
  • Assistant has been added to the main menu.
  • Builder Preferences has moved from Game Setup to the settings of the main menu.
  • Removed solid scenery items from sprite sheets. Please use uploaded tilesets instead.
  • Course intro message will not play a second time if you change areas and return to it.
  • The manual has been updated.
  • The example file has been updated to demonstrate 2-player mode and a NPC at the beginning of the first area.
  • Platform Builder now requires installation, which will make it compatible for more computers.
  • Fixed: Checkpoint fails to work when it goes to an area of a different spawn ID than specified on the level icon.

  • Fixed: Changing the character sprite does not affect the fly and pipe-travel sprites.
  • Fixed: Overworlds not saving correctly when you edit a level from one overworld to a different overworld.
  • Fixed: ASDW keys don't work after beating a game in a test run.
  • Fixed: You can still select from the title screen buttons after a game is initializing.
  • Fixed: Warps in overworld occasionally fail to move the view.
  • Fixed: "Continue Previous" setting in music fails when the previous course goal was to reach the far bottom.
  • Fixed: Area selection is lost in a course icon if you move it.
  • Fixed: Moving a pipe which sends the character to a new level doesn't save the level information.
  • Note: Due to some changes in the game mechanics, you may encounter issues if you try to load your gameplay from a previous version when you test-run your game or play through it. After switching to Platform Builder 3, we recommend that you play your games from the beginning to avoid this.
  • Note: Due to some changes in the character designer, you may need to redesign some parts of your character.
  • Note: The development for Platform Builder has migrated from GMS:1 to GMS:2. Due to the way that the new system processes tiles, most tiles can no longer be placed without a grid enabled. It was also necessary to set a max horizontal limit for areas. The limit is 5,000 squares, which is plenty (40 times the length of the first area in the example file).
  • Note: Warp pad spaces have been modified some, and so you may need reposition the location of your warp pads if you are updating from a previous version of PB.
