Title: Land of dreams
Post by: Alley on May 17, 2018, 02:26:52 PM
Well... I have created a new game mode that includes all created levels from Invasion: Going Personal.  :)  It haven't been meant to be any part of my main project in Platform Builder but as well a lot of you have said that the game is hard so you probably are even not able to see everything from my game it is reasonable to allow you to play my levels in your preferred order. That is why I am not going to remove this selection before every level for my game have been made perhaps for long. You can now choose if you wish to play on storyline or prefer to choose one level from the collection for trying.

Land of dreams includes also the latest level that I am working with. It's flying with a vehicle so may-be you wish to check this out.  ::)  Every course in a collection of single levels includes a sign about where you are entering which describes the level also.
'
Consider this as my simplified version of the game that now you just can access everywhere and see about what's new instead of trying to beat everything in a row! Land of dreams is not done yet. I also plan to allow you to access every checkpoint. This will mean that you should be able to play almost every kind of challenge, puzzle and boss that my game includes without being skilled enough soon.
Note that in Land of dreams you can't beat the game! If you want to beat the game you still have to do it required way but may-be you rather just prefer a playing experience.  8)

Good! I would still make my simplified version, but this Is a good approach. Could you share your vehicle sprites in the resource section?

About the vehicle sprites not yet I can do. Sprites exists already but I just made those for testing if such thing really can be done and then just for making that vehicle but the actual sprite about how I imagine it to look haven't been made. Now if I know that race levels can be made such way I am going to draw such sprite yet. For now you would get just some kind of scratch made for testing.

I however, can give some new sprites yet. I have updated my project and also I brought back original sprites so my spritesheet does not overwrite anything anymore. :)

Very nice! It's cool and exactly what every fan (like me) wants!

Thank you too, Christian Game Maker, for your warm comment on this page but also you should make some update on your website to be honest. :) My recourses on your site are outdated. Those are not in use anymore and unnecessary if you now can apply my sprites and tiles without replacing original stuff inside PB.
Check out from Antikore's website! :) Some tilesets and sprite sheets should be replaced and some of those can be added.

I did some work on my resource page. I don't know why I didn't finish it.

Using new timelines and command prompt, I tried to experiment if it is possible to make monkeys... With my previous tricks to use enemies and items for triggers also, I was able to make it.
So here it comes. :)

However, what do you think is going to happen in this level? This challenge is waiting for you in a game called as Invasion: Going Personal very soon. ;)

I'm not sure what to put into this level Allar. I think I can make monkey sprites, bananna sprites, and such to make your monkeys look better!

Really? :D Your guess was correct. Well, at least partly... :P This challenge from this video includes monkeys and bananas and even more sprites than 2 for the enemy but did I asked someones help? What do you think why I let people think what is going to happen? Just have another game! :) This game has been already updated. I am not sure if my work looks great yet but I can say at least that expect even more updates for this level!  ;)

Okay... ???

Your "Okay" seems to be quitting rather than accepting. ::) It feels a bit inaccurate for me if people even are not using the product being so outdated and offering their help. This is why my previous post may seem a bit stark. However, after that, I posted the previous post I began to think that maybe you even played my game instead of just watching the video and guessing from the name of the video and yellow boomerangs that looks a bit like bananas. So maybe you actually did see my monkey and banana sprites.
If so and my monkey sprites just don't look good then, of course, you can help and make your own sprites. I actually showed my lately created sprites also to Ting_Thing and asked if those are looking good, realistic and he said that my sprites are looking great but he also may have said that for being polite.

Needing help or not is a conditional thing also. For example, I would appreciate if people would test my game if I have linked everything properly etc. because my game is quite a long already and perhaps I also don't reach to find everything but people even are not going to play my game. :-\  Making my game to be easier is a bit difficult for me, yes because even most Super Mario games are more difficult than Invasion: Going Personal at least for now.

I said okay because I didn't really know what you said. That's why I used that face in the message. I haven't seen the level in the game yet. So I didn't know that you already had the monkey sprites. I'll check the level out soon!

Oh, and I am a Mario game expert. I think your game is harder. Mario games can be difficult, but usually not as hard as yours. Mario Forever is a bit difficult because of the way the physics are. And the levels have a much more difficult design.

Oh, and ASM is a little difficult, but it's easy to beat.

Well, I can't say that I am an expert for Mario series but I have done a lot of more playing Mario games than building Invasion: Going Personal and I always can beat my whole game in some hours later if just keeping going in the same time when there are only 1-2 times when I have passed SMB1 even. I know that SMB1 have no much obstacles nor too difficult levels otherwise but it has quite a difficult physics to handle in the same time there are also only 3 lives and no much items to collect lives back soon enough. The fact that I always must start from the beginning on again I am often not able to beat this game in a fair way. I have beaten SMB3 but only by saving and loading from an emulator that runs from PC. Mario Forever is easy for me although it has much more tricks and advanced enemies but it has very nice physics for me. However, Mario Forever is one of the few Mario games I can beat and only from the storyline section.
If you say you are not satisfied with the physics for Mario Forever then it is probably quite a pointless to argue about a difficulty because of this may be something to do what physics you get used to. I must admit that when I was going to make bosses on Platform Builder then even making them a bit more advanced caused me to have very difficult times to beat them but by checking out several features, testing, trying new things and creating those bosses I probably also learned about how to play.

So just if you were dogged enough to learn how to play Mario games then also feel free to learn how to play in Platform Builder. I know, it is not a Mario game nor for creating old more popular Mario games that people got used to playing because of what probably Platform Builder is not that popular also but you will not regret because watch, Platform Builder is actually a much more powerful game creator than Mario Builder already.

If you see an updated version of my game then you can say what do you think about it if not considering its difficulty.  ::)

I was only saying that in my opinion your game is a bit more difficult then the average Mario game. SMB3 is easy if you know a bunch of secrets. I own the game on Wii and know almost all secrets. You can research "secret magic whistles in super Mario bros 3 nes" and then it can be easier to beat with the whistles because they take you to other places thus taking you to the final world.

And when you are passing the game by going to the secrets perhaps by skipping the most of the game then do you really feel that you beat that game?  ::)

I've never beaten your game. I do enjoy it though... It may just be I haven't tried hard enough to beat it.

I think it just be you haven't tried hard enough to beat it. :) I mostly try to beat every new game from Explore that appears and will not quit before I will be successful. One game that is unbeaten by me is a Kaizo Platforio by Seggaw because it does not look very good(complete) and Seggaw also didn't claim himself being beaten his own game by himself in a full test. I also haven't beaten Antikore's game but it looks very good and I have tried it several times before I got bored because of a bug that got me stuck. However, I sure will try it again when Antikore claims himself being beaten his game in a full test.

If you get in a situation that you are not able to beat my game because of a bug that is sure very annoying then please let me know! :) Land of Dreams has been created exactly for them who maybe are interested in one level more than into the other and you can use it also if you have beaten one level and want to see just some news for not beating one old level over and over.

Okay! ;) I see. I've beaten every explore game except for, Invasion: going personal, (land of dreams), and kaizo platforio. I have beaten Antikors game many times. Yu just have to know what to do. Your game appears to be running greatly! I think it should be formatted for exe.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have thought about asking my own EXE for Invasion but I have thought also that my game may not be complete enough to hurry that way but my own EXE would make me feel somehow honored. :D I also will try to beat Antikore's game if you say that you have really beaten it but Antikore really should make this game compatible to a new aspect ratio.

With the last powerful update for Platform Builder, there are also much more things that we can do in addition to the fact that even before it was powerful thing enough to make some special levels to the collection.

The next level that is in my mind is a Power Plant which will include several kinds of obstacles and puzzles from technology. Below you can see what you are going to face in Power Plant.
I do not promise anything and this is going to take some time probably because of upcoming time limits but I am very sure that those things can be made and I remember that I have felt so also before I made other things. 8)  So if you believe in this and it feels special then stay tuned!

Great! Not sure how you will make most of those things, bit I think it's possible! And since you and me were picked to do beta 6.0!

It is possible. :) Now only water control is left for planning out but I quite a lot imagine how I am going to do it. Then I have to make some quick tests in a full gameplay to be sure that triggering items are going to appear also then when I leave the area or lose and come back later. After that, I am ready to start with a real build in my main project. I also have to draw walls, propellers and more for my custom enemies so they would look as those should be but the system gives a great feeling already.  8)

I only hope that I don't have to use a lot of enemies from the sheet because some more special levels is left after that which may need some extra sheets for making custom stuff... ::)

How big is Invasion going to get? I've always wondered... How many levels do you plan to put into it?
Title: Re: Land of dreams

I have no certain plans about how many levels I am going to create but my game sure has 5 worlds. Each world has 1 boss fight level like in SMB but instead of 1 miniboss level, I plan to include 1 special challenge in the middle of the way.
Also, I would like to have 1 secret world which has some extra levels including easter eggs. I want that it would be partly possible to enter the secret world from each regular world and that would reveal something special if you will be able to beat all secret levels from every regular world on. The reward may be one more extra level which maybe will include a secret boss. In addition to a secret world, I plan to include some secret ways so you would be able to skip a few regular worlds or even a special challenge. However, I am not sure if it is possible yet and I am not sure how it exactly will become.
I want to make something special but I don't want to spend too much time on this game so all other levels will be classical and simply made although I plan to make those look good. That is why I also started from the hardest and most important things on. But sure is that I plan to make the same amount of levels for each world and before and after the special level it would be normal to have at least 3 regular levels. :)  But my game is even not Beta yet so there will be a lot to do yet. My game reaches to Beta when all required worlds will be done and/or if the worlds and screens are fully illustrated.

Talking about the Power Plant also, water control has been now planned and constructed. 8)

Great! Glad you got the water control thing taken care of. How did you do it?
Title: Re: Land of dreams
Post by: Alley on September 01, 2018, 11:07:01 PM
Thanks! :) I know how I am going to create full water control because the only way how to do it seems to be duplications like with the alarms in the second boss fight level. That is why I didn't build it fully for learning. However, I planned out some things that do not exist in any previously made levels.
This has water drops which are working like poison drops but those will not harm. I used a custom item for this that gives you nothing and controlled it's creation time, ending and location via "Spawn" objects and a timeline because any item will be not destroyed when touching the ground. I plan to use tileset for drawing a leak for water drops. To make a water flow running directly to inbuilt water I used custom enemies that will not harm you and which are invincible for animated tiles. :)

You can try those additional courses too if you wish.  ::)

Hmm... (I've been saying that a lot lately,) are you available to talk in my steam group chat again?
Title: Re: Land of dreams
Post by: Alley on September 02, 2018, 01:14:46 AM
You have been saying what a lot lately? :P I am quite a passive in the forums and I decided to answer some unanswered posts again. I also guessed that you may have chatted a lot already in your group but you have written some posts to the forums and private messages when I even wasn't in, chatted in your group when I still was on this topic and chatted a lot already when I was checking for private messages. My spelling is not that good as well, so I can't be so quick...

Chatting in your group can take some remarkable hours, however, and I don't enjoy it very much if streaming is laggy and you can go away every time when something in our talk or game is far from being complete. This kind of thing is a dedication with broken experience that may cause some serious disappointment. So I don't know what is happening in real and I may be a bit too excited about sharing my content so it may annoy you somehow but you must let me know about it very clearly then! Or if it is not the case then you should call me in a group when you have some time for a stable speak. This is my first time when I really have some time and I feel that I have wasted some very important time several times already. ::)

This is a race type that I am planning next. Probably not that complicated to make but would be sure another kind of challenge again. :)
