Title: Space Invaders Remake
Post by: Antikore on April 26, 2019, 07:52:35 PM
I think I have passed the internet and I have passed Platform Builder.
Here I present to you:
SPACE INVADERS REMAKE

It's a very hard work that makes a game very very similar to original space invaders. Note: It can be laggy due to high timeline & animated sprite use.

Controls:
- In the main menu:
   - (Jump button) to quit
   - (Attack button) to play
- In the game:
   - (Attack button) to attack, obviously
   - (Jump button + Down) to return to the main menu
There is no way to enter platform builder pause menu from the game, so, you must remember this controls to quit without using Alt+F4.
If pressing the button once doesn't work, hold it a few seconds until the game reacts (Timeline limitations, sorry :/)

I will post in this topic some screenshots and videos when the game finally published to the explore section.

Report me any bugs you see on the game, obviously, there are very complicated ones that, due to Platform Builder limitations, I can't fix them. (There are some actually.)

My record: 2680 points. Can you beat me?

Have a good day and bye!

It's a very old arcade game.

I just played this and I am really happy that someone bothers to create that PB directly hasn't been meant to allow but that have been created very well. Hitting enemies by the player and contrary is a very glitchy but you also made yourself clear why. I, however, believe that those kinds of movement can be made also with a regular movement than using x and y changing feature although haven't tried something like this with PB but feels makeable. ::)
Anyways, that's your first release and comparing a lot of others this is very decent. :) I think I beat your score several times. This game wasn't very difficult. I just beat one level then another etc until I just allowed myself to die because couldn't figure out about how to quit. This still didn't send me out so I had to force PB to close. I forgot to read your instruction before playing I guess. ::) Anyways, I think you should add more variants, bosses, music, more difficulties so it would keep playing... But if you meant this to be old classic then you also can keep it as it is. You just demonstrated your skills to build Space Invaders using PB. ;)

I beat your score. I got 3340 points! I have only played a few minutes. I think that this is very good. I do wish it was less laggy though. Great game! I may be inspired to do a classic re-make as well.

I know it's not your fault, but the game's fairly laggy.
Otherwise, it works fine enough.  this is a good example of what you can programme in PB. well done :)

enter "Explore" from the main menu of Platform Builder. you will find all games, there's even a search bar to help you in search.
unfortunately, this game is broken (it was created in earlier version of the engine). I recommend checking out other, more recent projects like Hanzo Kid Adventure by cbecvil, or Invasion: Going Personal by Alley (it's older but it still holds up).

Welcome to the forums, ZANARD!

Invasion: Going Personal by Alley (it's older but it still holds up).
That's surprising news, to be honest.  :)  This message from you made me log into Steam and run PB just to see if it is so and really, my game is actually very playable yet. That made me wish to rework my project again as it may have not much to do to restore its previous form. I don't know if I am able to do this soon yet... But thanks for your suggestion for my project also!

Hey, Gizgord!

Thank you! :) Nice to hear from you too. I take your words into count. Working on 2 more projects including my PB project or starting with a new one is still in my mind but I never seem to get on it more seriously anymore. I guess, I try to take it more easily and just do something when I will do or should I not do something then I simply won't.  :P

Right now, I consider myself an old man and community fan rather than a developer. ::)
