Must say everything looks fantastic! :)
Sorry about all those bugs, it's actually a problem with the program, don't worry.

Works in Progress / Re: HANZO KID ADVENTURE
« on: June 16, 2022, 09:35:29 PM »
Hanzo Kid It already has a video on YOUTUBE, more than anything to advertise PLATFORM BUILDER.
Enjoy it!
This is the best [a lot of words TT wouldn't want anyone to say] thing I've ever seen
Very cool! Congrats on that. I could even help you to make a better trailer because the game looks so [the same words than above] cool it feels like of pitty to see watermarks from the video editor and recorder.

Anyways, I'm hoping to play the game soon, it really made me want to play!!!

General Discussion / Re: PB may move to modern systems?
« on: June 11, 2022, 07:01:23 AM »
old forums were hosted by Tapatalk. the change was explained in the thread I linked below. I checked out the forum engine RPG Maker community uses (XenForo). its pricing starts at 60$/month. that's not a small expense and I'm not convinced it is worth it. meanwhile, simplemachines is free and open-source. maybe there are cheaper options  :o

I suppose there isn't a definitive answer until we experience a new wave of users in the database, and let them choose which platform they prefer. my guess is a forum monitored by the developer and community-based discord (so pretty much what we have now) offers the best balance. but I don't know  ???

For example, SMBX formus works kinda the same way except the Discord is not community based but official I think xd

For me Forums are fine. If you watch the RPG Maker MV Forum, then you can see how active and Full of Life Forums can be. This kind of Forum is just old and should be changed completely to a More modern Forum. And there is a Discord Server already. Even that was dead when I was on it.
PB forums and discord are dead right now, when more people come, both will revive

General Discussion / PB may move to modern systems?
« on: June 07, 2022, 12:01:20 PM »
After the addition of the bug report form, I think it's the time to speak on this:
Forums and forms are outdated stuff, it may sound weird but nowadays most people wouldn't return into forums to continue speaking, and most people wouldn't fill up forms to report bugs.

If we want PB target to reach further, then forums should be replaced with other kind of communities (Like Discord Servers) and forms with other kind of issue trackers, (Like Github Issues)

This will attract more people and keep the people on the system more oftenly.
I'll be glad to help TT with both discord servers and github issues, as I had contact with both systems.

Suggestions / Is there any way to profile PB games?
« on: March 03, 2022, 01:28:33 PM »
With profiling I mean to know where are the most resource consuming areas

Suggestions / Default controls for when???
« on: March 02, 2022, 05:15:43 PM »
I mean, it's something necessary to be able to add default controls for our games, specially for exes.
Button A, B, C and D are set to error by default.

Suggestions / Re: Idea for optimization, tags
« on: February 28, 2022, 02:59:51 PM »
Addition to this suggestion: Tag variables and areas too, so I can set a bunch of different variables to a same value with an ease, and to change area to a random area from the tag

I had threads in mind while writing this. might be the best of both worlds. ATM I think they only allow few days before threads are closed.
I absolutely agree that forums are buggy and kind of hostile. some of us greet and talk to new users but other than that, feels like they've no incentive to come back.. I'm conflicted
That's the thing, anyways I think threads can be kept forever if there is activity and they can be reopen iirc

Suggestions / Idea for optimization, tags
« on: February 27, 2022, 01:05:04 PM »
In my game there is a lot of stacked stuff and that's bad. For example, item randomizers or enemy killers.
Code: [Select]
// This would be an item randomizer in my game
local var i = random 10
if i = 1
spawn item 1, self
if i = 2
spawn item 2, self
// ...

What if, instead of doing this, I could create a custom tag, hold all the items on it, and use just a few commands
Code: [Select]
spawn random tag 1, 1

Tags would have their own category on the game manager, and they will hold items, enemies, projectiles, blocks, etc.
Example with the enemies, instead of having an item that kills enemies with a command for each enemy, it would be like this
Code: [Select]
// Tag with ID 2, kill all enemies from it
kill tag 2

Most commands used for interact with any of the objects that tags can hold may be usable to interact with tags too.
This would be useful too for cleaning the code a bit

General Discussion / Bot spam bad
« on: February 27, 2022, 10:27:07 AM »
This forum may need new moderators because bot spam is still a thing, someone that helps TT with this things would be nice.

Suggestions / Re: This would fix PB lag forever... A compiler
« on: February 27, 2022, 10:21:16 AM »
Yeah, the thing of PB made on GMS2 could be the main issue but I think a compiler would fix a lot of things, an external program that reads a PB slot directory and converts it into a real exe, that would be amazing imo.

Still, that's not reason for simple games to work like uuuuuuh xd

Btw, hello MagnaDev, it's been awhile since a non-bot joins here XD

I personally like forums. it has its charm that gets lost in major communicators like Discord. our own place on the Internet, you know what I mean?
however, I do agree that forum sites are just not that practical for normal communication. many people lose interest before they even register; And because you don't check in nearly as often, discussions often feel more like writing emails rather than actual dialogue.
on the flip-side of the coin, forum pages are far superior at creating specific topics. especially when you consider the nature of PB, people make their own games. we can't give users channels for every game they desire, that'd be way too clunky. if everyone were to advertise in one channel, many would pass unnoticed. you shouldn't expect everyone to... make a website or YouTube channel for their game or something, you know? and for those that wish to show off their work, forums work very well.
I think this is a good compromise (for now). official forums and community run DC server.
The game thing can be done using threads right now in Discord, yeah for some stuff forums are good but I think with the recent bot spams, the bugs with the like system, and in general, all feels wacky and old, and yeah, people don't check that commonly. so...
