General Discussion / ASM PB HD Concept

I've been working on HD art for PB. And I came up with a very simple basic concept art for what ASM would look like if it was HD.
Here is the art piece:
 

I also did a character that I can animate for the PB character. If TingThing were to give PB HD abilities, I'd hope he'd use this character I made. Though it'd be very difficult to add customization options.

 

This character is far from complete, but I'm sure I can make a fully animated sprite sheet in a few weeks. Anyway, that's all for now.

So now we can import sprites of any kind, so why not allow PB to be HD? All we really need is more advanced camera control, (I'm thinking by percentages, like 1000% being the maximum and so fourth) and changing PB's resolution. If I understand correctly, it's at 480p which isn't bad, but for HD sprites, this would be needed. I'd really like to see this in PB 8.0.

What happened? This place was active like never before a few weeks ago. I personally have barely touched PB since I released a complete version of CSB. I've been doing other things, and I intend to get back to work on ASM once 8.0 is released, or if I get to beta test it. It's too bad this place isn't active like it was a short while ago.

Suggestions / Open Source PB games

Opensource games on the PB explore have always been limited to games using only built-in resources. But since sandbox levels received full game setup capatibility, I've noticed that there are a few sandbox games using custom sprites and game setup stuff. Well, why is it that games with custom resources can't be opensouce, but sandbox games can? I almost put this in bugs and glitches, but I decided not to. Thanks!

Collaboration / Project: Platform Builder HD - TREX

I've been working on the animations for enemies based off of Warrior555's HD sprites for PB. Here's the Trex!



 
I hope someday TingThing will take our work and add a HD option in Platform Builder, and have a classic option as well. It'd take a lot of work, but I know he could pull it off!

There are several talented spriters here, and it'd be really awesome to re-create all of the existing PB sprites into HD form. Then, we could create our very own HD PB games!

Suggestions / 360 degree for more than projectiles

Why do we get 360 degree stuff for just projetiles? Why not create 360 commands?

player 1 360=50 (tells PB to spin the player around in 360 according to what direction they're facing 50 times)
stop player 1 360 (instantly stops the player from doing the 360)
Why limit this to players? I don't see why this is a good choice. This should apply to every object with an ID  (not including sounds of course)

Suggestions / Nearest (whatever) command expansion

All nearest commands seem to only go by the player. The closest to the player. Nothing else! This is a great addition, because now we can be more precise as to what we want to manipulate. And fixes many features I've wanted to incorporate into ASM that have just sat there waiting for this feature to come along. But wait...Couldn't this be taken to the next level?

How about:
For closest enemy to enemy (ID)
This shouldn't be limited to just enemies. Everything else needs this too. This would open up many possibilities. Or, we could leave out all ID's and let PB detect if the command is being executed in an enemy, player, or whatever else command prompt.

If hit on right/left side command prompts, top, bottom command prompts, you get the idea. This would really expand block possibilities.

It'd be nice to let this thing detect what destroyed an enemy. Like if in enemy settings in the defeated command prompt, what if it said, "if enemy id=(id)" it could see if an enemy with a certain ID destroyed it. Same goes for player, projectile, and other things.

I want a button to duplicate an event in timelines. It simply creates a new event, with all of the commands of the event you are duplicating in the duplicated event.

ASM's 1st MicroDemo Installment has been released, and I want some opinions on certain aspects of the game's quality. Please vote! ASM's success will depend on quality, so please do vote!
PS:I'm not going to ask about level design at this point. The microdemo's level was more to show off ASM, than to be a really well designed level.
