Off Topic / Re: CGM's Annual Avatar change! 2021

Why, I wasn't expecting this kind of feedback. I'm not going back, but rather I'm gonna edit this. I felt that there was something off about it myself. I'll get to work on improving it.

Off Topic / CGM's Annual Avatar change! 2021 OLD, POORLY RECIEVED
« on: December 26, 2020, 06:59:05 AM »
Well, I'm pretty sure I've stated this before, that I wanna do a new avatar each year, only this year I have a lot planned. I plan on changing my avatar for each season, holiday, and special occasion, all revolving around my brand new character design. Say hello to 3D CGM!

I've been working on this a few days, and I've had it in mind for quite some time. This model's gone through quite a few revisions, and it's not yet finalized. I'll be showing off various renders in the near future, once I get it rigged and ready to go, as it's not complete yet.

What's happening to my pixel-sprite design? Consider it something used only in the context of Platform Builder, and as a classic design. I'll still be using it for certain PB related things, but for now my 3D avatar is going to be front and center.

Anyway, hope you guys all like it. If you think something should be changed/adjusted, or anything, let me know!
And let's hope that 2021 ends up being a better year than 2020. ;)

Introductions / Re: Hello, there is cbecvil
« on: December 22, 2020, 07:08:48 PM »
@cbecvil Welcome to the Platform Builder forums! Glad you're hoping to learn how to use PB. It's a great program, and I think that someone who's used it for 3 years (mid/late 2017-almost 2021) would be a good judge on whether it's good for making games or not.
It's an easy-to-learn program, and if you don't have pro, I highly recommend getting it.
I understand PB being intimidating at first, but this video series released by the developer should help a lot:
https://theplatformbuilder.com/tutorials/

Once you've gotten used to the basics of PB, then please do check out the slightly more advanced section of PB, Command Prompt:

Hope you have a good time here!

Suggestions / Re: [Forum Suggestion] Like Stats
« on: December 22, 2020, 04:28:54 AM »
As the like system is an addon, I wouldn't blame TingThing for this, not saying that you are, but just saying it's not worth getting upset with him over (for other over-reactive readers) and he himself did not code the addon, so it's really the addon developer's fault that they didn't include that. I hope there's a way to add that forum stats feature, though.

@Setap Can you not tell when there's an actual argument? There was no argument. This is the 2nd time where you assume an argument has started, when one hasn't. All that's happened is this:

I said something, Warrior criticized what I said and misunderstood what I said, and I clarified what I said. That doesn't qualify as an argument. If this was an argument, we'd be going back and fourth arguing who's right. That hasn't happened.

I didn't make any criticism. I just made a reminder. That is all. I didn't ask where it is. I didn't even ask a question. I just said, "You can't forget USA's flag." That's not a question. I did not ask, "Where's the USA flag?" That'd be ridiclious since Setap just said that not all of the flags are there yet.
He said not all flags would be there, and I was hoping that that didn't mean that he wasn't going to include the USA flag, so I wrote that post saying don't forget it.

Working with Platform Builder / Re: Areas and Courses
« on: December 17, 2020, 12:45:05 AM »
Are you speaking in the context of variables? If so, than an area is just one area in your game. A course, is a collection of areas that make up a stage. But a course could also just be one area, it just depends on what you define as a course. When you enter a command to "complete course" then the game knows that that's the end of the course.

@Antikore You should categorize these terms.

@warrior @McPopato We were having an argument? Seriously? I was simply explaining the art of warrior's I had seen. I wasn't about to get into a debate as to who's a better artist. I think hands-down that Warrior is the better artist of the both of us. He said I had "seen literally none" of his artwork. I was stating that I had seen some of his artwork. I think it's safe to assume he is the better of the two of us. Cuz I know he's been practicing HD 2D art a lot longer than I have, and a lot more consistently than I have. There's no need to argue over this.
