I don't know how to call this.
« on: January 01, 2019, 10:19:01 AM »
Platform Builder, during 2018 got a bunch of incredible games.
This idea is that every end of each year, TingThing make a video called, for example:
"Platform Builder 2018 year recap"
This will be a video where short and good videos for the best active/published games on the year. Also, each short video from 5 to 15 seconds of each game should have written the name and author of the game and in the background some non-copyrighted music. Kevin MacLeod has very good ones :D

This is not an original, I saw other programs such as MCreator that do this, here is a video recap of that program (The video is about Minecraft Mods):

If TingThing likes the idea, I have a good experience in video editing, if he wants I can also do the video, should not be a problem for me.
(Obviously not all games will be post on the video. Maybe will be good to use some criteria whether selecting games to see in the video.)

Sorry because my English is not very good because I'm Spanish ;) :P

I think this is a great idea! It can show people what they have missed in the year, give them an idea of what they should play and bring attention to people's games on explore, while also bringing attention to PB in general. And why not add major updates and additions to PB in the video, as well? I have a good experience in video editing too.
Currently Working on: a super, special, secret game thing (and Adventure Joruney: Origins)
Have a great day!

Well, what an interesting coincidence! Because I also have good video editing skills! (I think.) Anyway, we could all work together on things like this! We could recap on major updates, games, and great game mechanics made with PB! We could each cover a different category. This would be great!

What do you think about these criteria:
The video will contain:
  • 3 most viewed games in forums
  • 3 games with most posts to the game topic
  • 3 most downloaded games in the explore section
  • 3 most complex games.
You have to add some more stuff for criteria.

Also, all games have to follow these extra criteria:
- The game can't repeat twice in the recap, even if the game won two of the above criteria.
- The game must have been published in the year of the recap except if the game has updated impressively in the year even if have started on another year.
- The game must be considered good by most of the community. If the post has a lot of responses, they have to be most good.
- The game should represent greatly Platform Builder.

What do you think? Tell me and I will change stuff.

I am not sure if my own project is good for most of the people... Although, my project is one that is notable having a lot of posts, having custom and complex mechanics and I think it presents abilities from PB more than advertised from official trailers, I don't think my game has that much plays nor considered to be good by the community otherwise. Until today, I still can see mentions about the difficulty mostly.  :-\

So or another way, I think making this video would help TingThing to save time because there are a lot of people who can do a good job making nice videos with nice editing including me if I really would prioritize the look for video over time cost but I think TingThing is still the most popular for making Mario Builder and if he would create this video to his account then I think it should call more people in it. Because however, Mario Builder never allowed us to make something that someone of us has made although also Mario Builder is a very good application. :)

I thought that any one of us can do the video, then, TingThing uploads it to YouTube in his account, at least, I think it can be official

That's one of the possibilities as well, of course. :)

I have thought also about this for long also but for now in those holidays, I still rather would try to improve just my own project.

This is a great idea, but as the developer my hands are so full with many other Platform Builder related things. If somebody wants to take charge and do a video like this, you have my blessing.

Yay! Also, could we do like, a new video like this every month or so? We could rotate on who does a video. Or, if someone can't do it, someone else can do it.

I probably will do it. But I will get in account any ideas you give me. Feel free to comment your suggestions. I have a lot of experience in video editing.

This is good. Maybe add another section for the best level design?

Yay! Also, could we do like, a new video like this every month or so? We could rotate on who does a video. Or, if someone can't do it, someone else can do it.

I think it should be done annually but uploaded by the end of January in the following year because it gives us time more than enough time to get information, produce the video and upload it. Also, there might not be enough games in a month.

I probably will do it. But I will get in account any ideas you give me. Feel free to comment your suggestions. I have a lot of experience in video editing.

Cool! What program do you use to edit?

We should do like:
1 ranking
The third firsts
Then, in the 2nd ranking, we set all until we have 3 non-repeated games in the above categories that win the actual ranking.
