Game Freezes When Reading Signs

Hey there, I haven't dug too far into this project yet or made any changes to the code, but playing through I noticed that sometimes the game would freeze while reading a sign. The trigger for this happening seems to be pressing "enter" instead of "up", which I did by accident the first time but have been able to recreate every time now.

Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Thanks. Looks like this is a bug specific to the Ultimate Platformer Engine.


I updated the engine to include the fix. For you, try making the following change in the code.


obj_okay left released has three lines of code at the bottom which say:

Code: [Select]

global.message = "none"
global.message_type = 0
instance_destroy()

Change that to:

Code: [Select]

if canpress = 1
{
global.message = "none"
global.message_type = 0
instance_destroy()
}

It's a great deal, and I'd say worth the cost even when not on sale - it's an awesome project! I might have to check out PB too, I didn't know about that one when I downloaded UPE.

True. I suppose. But now I'm hoping to buy it today! Yes, eschirm, there are 2 programs. You should check out Platform Builder as well! You can develop your games super fast with that. It can't do everything. The UPE is all new to us, because, well, it's brand new. I still remember when development had been announced. So, if you wanna make your game really fast, use both PB PRO and the UPE.
