Platform Builder has advanced so much since even the beginning of last year. (2018) It has advanced so much, I personally don't believe it is a mere level editor. But rather, a professional game making tool. As I say in my stuff about PB, "Platform Builder is great for casual game makers who just want to make a game for fun, and great for serious game makers who want to make something as complex as Super Mario World." I believe this is true. Though at the time of this writing I haven't revealed a lot of the new mechanics, it's constantly becoming more and more complex like SMW. Though PB hasn't arrived yet to it's full potential, (it's still missing lots of useful things. Such as a HUD editor, mouse clicking stuff, etc etc.) it's getting very close. I believe that in the next 5 years, PB will be exceedingly complex and good enough to compete with Game Maker Studio 2. Mario Builder was a nice little project, but Platform Builder has out-done Mario Builder by like...100x. TingThing has said that PB was supposed to be similar to Super Mario Maker. I believe that it isn't at all like SMM. Due to the fact that you can edit almost anything, and make it your own game. Instead of simply using pre-made tools. You'd have to have an extremely large game that takes years to develop to put in all of the possible tools you'd need. Though people are expecting Super Mario Maker 2, Platform Builder has already outdone it. And TingThing has outdone himself time, and time again. PB 7 is sure to be a well known hit in PB history.

I'm sorry to bring you down, but wasn't UPE made in mind to be the more "powerful" counterpart, since you can put code in it?
anyway, I think you said too much.
don't get me wrong. I think PB is great, it did develop over time, and it could get more competitive in future. HOVEWER, competing with Game Maker? you do remember PB is made in GMS? this sounds ridiculous.
I like that you're aware of some much needed improvements, but even then, PB won't be good enough to be considered a "viable" proffesional game making tool. it wasn't meant to be.
I don't know, that's what I'm feeling.

Ah. I understand. And I am aware of all that, but I'm just saying it's becoming more like a professional game maker. And yes, the UPE is meant for that. I just wasn't thinking of that.

I still think, however, that Platform Builder is for sure a professional game maker already now. :) Of course, it will be no choice for professionals no matter how good it is because professionals simply start the engine by themselves but it is a real piece of software no matter how it is called officially.
Even Mario Builder was for sure advanced thing but PB really allows to make every type or at least most of the types of genre from the splash screen to the ending credits. And this game is stable, smooth, it has nice graphics. Customizing the graphics is not the only thing you can do but also the physics... Just consider this as not a software for professionals but consider this as a professional software designed to be no good in programming but being still very powerful. It can be used also for them whom time is really limited which is a really big problem in this world. I think the only thing which separates it from being a real professional tool is maybe publishing the stand-alone game without open source.

Well, I agree with Alley. He's right you know. I just mean it's getting close to being more of a professional grade software. Of course, professionals won't use it. I know that. But it has advanced a lot. I think Mechsaur and Gizgord don't understand because they haven't experimented like we have to know what PB is capable of.

Alley, people like to use lots of shortcuts to say things. Like LOL means laugh out loud as an example. IDK is another one. It means I Don't Know. IDK what OG means. I know a few of those shortcuts. That's why I have a hard time understanding people, and you as well, Alley.

I think people should be sure first that people understand their shortcuts before entering... ::) Because it is no chat where you communicate your long known and understood friends who all are talking the same.
I know some shortcuts too and by the way, I also may use those as those save some time and when others also use those and understand then why not but this is not a big popular community here where everyone is with similar tastes and from similar "worldviews" and some shortcuts should be defined. ::) I think...
