New Commands in Platform Builder 5.1

Hi everyone,

Platform Builder 5.1 is out. If you look at the update log, you'll notice that a bunch of new commands were added. Here's a list of the new commands and a brief explanation for each one. See https://theplatformbuilder.com/Command-Prompt/ for all the details.


activate boss --- activates bosses in view


hide hud --- hides the HUD


show hud --- shows the HUD


music fade out --- fades out music


music fade in --- fades in music


camera fade out --- fades out the screen


camera fade in --- fades in the screen


camera fade color = black [or] white ---changes the fade color. Default is black.


screen shake = (seconds) ---changes the number of seconds to shake the screen


shake power = light, medium, [or] strong ---changes the intensity of a screen shake. Default is light.


stop timeline = (timeline ID) ---Stops a timeline from running


view follow spawn ---Causes the view to go to a spawn point with a spawn ID separated by a comma.


view follow block (block ID) ---Causes the view to go to a block with the specified ID


<block 1>Hello! ---Causes the block to talk.


return to checkpoint ---Returns the character to an activated checkpoint (without spending a life.)

Had to come out in few days if everything goes well but it's already here. Very nice.  O:-)

I looked it and just wow!  :o  Instead of a program made for fans it reminds me rather a professional toolkit for making good games really easily like in days when computers was going to be available for simple people already.  :D
For the fade effects I couldn't understand those importance at first that much but later understanding and trying I saw how good those features really can be. I made a Storage facility to self-destruct even prettier now. I only wish you add also more fade colors like red which would allow to create alarm effects that would come with an activated anti intruder lazers.  8)

I like the idea Alley for the red flashing for alarms. But what is the HUD?

You can get a better picture if you will read about hiding it in a tutorial from the main site. :) Then when you try it by yourself it takes no long to understand...

With HUD you can choose if to show score, lives and such or not. Sometimes you may want to disable it for bigger scenecuts.  :)

Wait, I noticed the new export option. Does this mean that I can give someone an exported slot to someone and they can edit and publish it on the explore section?

About the feature to import and export slots it's seems so, yes! :) But it saves some kind of file type instead of folder that would come by copying manually probably for still preventing some manual coping and breaking unwanted copyright rules.  ::)
This new pause menu is sure a very good movement further too which also solves my reported issue and several unreported issues for my the latest level.  O:-)

Good! I hope that the pause menu will get better in the future! Now that it's made, it shouldn't be very hard to add-on to it. This also means that maybe, (just maybe) that Ting Thing could try to write a program someday for taking the exported files and converting them to exe! I just hope that can be done. He did once tell me that he couldn't. But it's worth a try someday. Also this new export thing can also be used as a way for more slots! I tested it myself and found out that it really does work! Thank you Ting Thing for these new features!

Yeah, I did that mostly for importing purposes. I wanted the import feature to only work for that specific file type, not just any .zip file.

I think that this new thing will help in many ways. Ting Thing, is it possible to write a program to convert these files to exe? I do recall that you said you didn't want to do this in a personal message some time back.

What's more is good in command prompt and timelines is that now I am even sure that ending credits is possible to create and I think I know already how. :)


But first I want to share my flying level with a vehicle.  O:-)
