For all Mario Builder lovers!
« on: May 25, 2019, 04:34:04 PM »
I just had a thought. Many people loved Mario Builder, (MB) but it's old now, and hasn't been updated in years. Sadly, Ting will never update it again. But, I had an idea. An idea that I'm sure die hard Mario Builder fans would take on. Even though Platform Builder can't use MB sprites, or any pirated sprites, I'm sure that MB fans could create an engine with PB to make MB like games. It'd be like the Mario Hello Engine for Game Maker studio. Only, it's based off of MB, and it won't include mario sprites. What fans can do, is work on MB sprites that have PB style, (or their own style) then someone works on the engine parts. Such as programming stuff for everything to work right. Like bosses, different items, and such. I think PB is capable of pulling this off. After the engine is complete, it can be put on the MB forums, and the PB forums as resources to download. Doing this can sort of expand on MB. But remember, it can't have mario as the main character or anything super close to Mario sprite wise. I'd be happy to help ont his project if anyone takes it up, but I was just sharing this idea to help those sad MB fans.

When PB had even no command prompt nor timelines yet I used Trexes to represent an SMB turtle like variants next to Goombas(Gruppyies) because they are larger and needs to be hit more than once for the kill. :) Now there are more built-in sprites available and I think custom Milders are perfect versions from SMB Koopa turtles. They have shells but built-in Milders works too differently from SMB turtles. If you make a custom Milder and you can rip out a shell that can be used to attack the others... It would be no steal from Nintendo nor would be even no remake. I think it is a perfect way to include some SMB challenge where you can use shell but where you also may put yourself under the danger using shells improperly.
PB already now have several good matches with SMB ones. Red Frenzies are perfect for making jumping Cheep Cheep challenge if you just want to make some SMB like challenges but don't want to copy its look. :) PB also has a lot of blocks and movements for items to create even more. This is what I also work with right now.  O:-)

I am aware alley. I'm just saying to not make things look a lot like Mario. Like the? block or tilesets, or koopas, etc. Just use either PB sprites, or your own. Like making original ideas. Or taking Mario ideas, but instead, just using your own sprite variations that don't look like mario.

wouldn't it be simpler to just use the engine?

Hmm... What engine? If you mean the Mario builder game itself, Ting isn't going to hand over the sprites. And PB doesn't allow copyrighted sprites that aren't rightfully yours. So, we'll have to create sprites on our own.

Not everyone has game maker studio 2. Plus, it'd be legal to use PB. And to add on to stuff, it'd be quite simple because you wouldn't have to get headaches learning GML.

Hey, it's just that I think it might get MB users to move on.

This is like when you would want to earn some money and if you would want to earn some respect. You must move on and mustn't be stuck in old retroes by just remaking old things that even can't be called as your own made stuff. This doesn't need to mean you should forget a type of challenges from old games and feeling. ::) Right?
Well, here you can see a PB version of SMB like things that I have made. :)
