Minigame Creator

Hmm... Minigames aren't quite my thing, but minigames are fun to have if they are designed well. A minigame designer would be neat!

There are options in Commands and PB itself to create minigame-like areas. Though, I haven't had a go of that yet.

Yeah. I do know that. It's just something that would be made in a new game setup feature. And yes, Command Prompt is the way to go!

Hi, TheEpicz1!

I have thought about some members of the old forums for Platform Builder. It is nice to see that you have finally moved over to here. :)

Talking about the minigame is that I believe it is possible to create in Platform Builder especially with lately added commands and timelines and I also think it should be quite an easy to do. Just make a level for this although I understand that there is no option for creating an exact menu that would lead to a different kind of game. But you can create a minigame to your game as one kind of bonus type or different game accessible at the beginning of your game placed somewhere in your world for example. The best way to do it would be to take Mario Forever for an example where you start at a saving room filled several kinds of game types. I am mentioning it in general and with both of you. :)

Hi Alley! Thanks, it's great to see you here too.

I moved late into the forums due to me not playing Platform Builder for a while, but now I've really gotten back into it, and my game is making great progress. I've tried making minigames like how you suggested, and it works well! Also, man, I remember Mario Forever. :D It's probably the first fangame I ever played. This should be in off-topic, but what's your experience with that game (Including Mario Worker)?  :)

Well, Mario Forever is something that makes old Mario games to a next level and which adds really good action, beauty and a bit funny situations to a genre also. It is a one really good thing created by only 1 person like Mario Builder and Platform Builder by Ting_Thing. :)
Mario Worker belongs to my interests just because of Mario Forever which is awesome and adds more ideas. So I just wanted to make my own levels also but unfortunately, Mario Worker was far away from being that comfortable as Mario Forever itself. Although some fans have made some recreations and improvements to it for now already. You really can create Mario Forever games and even more but unfortunately we must choose from ridiculously limited time what we pick and what we leave.  :-\

Yeah, I agree.  :) Mario Forever is quite unique. There's also something I like about it that I can't really describe without it sounding a little odd. It has an early fangame feel too it, for example, the interface. It's made up of some bright colo(u)rs, but a lot of beige. The sound effects are echo-y and low-quality/off at times, but that just adds to the charm. The overworld/map music screams early millennial internet days, with its techno-y beats, slowly building up into something great. The map music would also seem like it would never fit with classic 2D Mario, but it somehow works, in my opinion, due to it being a fangame. The icon for the game is just the SMAS Mario 1 sprite but smoothed out with a pixel filter, plus a silver background that actually looks quirky but wonderful. And, oh my gosh, the sound effects. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about  ;)

Or, you probably don't, and you're finding me really weird right now...

Sorry about that, I just feel like I had to express something different, that I like about this game.

Anyway, I agree with what you said about Mario Worker. While it's a good, level editor, it's rather clunky like a lot of older Mario level editors. It's additionally can be quite limited. It's not terrible, I actually quite like it, I just much prefer things like... Oh, I don't know... Platform Builder  ;)

However, fans have improved the game -and Mario Forever- a lot (Like you said). The games are much more polished now, I would recommend Mario Forever Remake above any other version, even though it's still in development (I think). Plus, it comes bundled with Mario Worker! Yay! I love having to download fewer things!  ;D

To Christian Game maker

I don't think Alley made Mario Forever  ;)

I believe he was talking about "Mario Worker" when talking about making Mario Forever styled games. Mario Worker is an application/game where you can make your own levels and worlds (and games, I think), in the style of Mario Forever, with the same engine. It's basically Mario Builder, but with a very different interface, and with the Mario Forever engine and style.

Wow, that was long!  :o

You don't look weird at all. :) Rather the contrary, I like your warm answer and sincere opinion for Mario Forever, it's editors and it's fans. Although, I am not sure what you mean exactly in sound effects because you brought out rather some different things from mine that you like in Mario Forever. Anyways, those are not bad at all and fits the game very well, including those ones that didn't exist in older Mario games like flames. Mario Forever is something, that has been made enjoyable even for them who maybe didn't like Mario games. It has been made to be active with a story well so it gives like a movie experience if you pass the whole game from the game to the end with credits.
Music is going to be even more intense when you reach farther, even more, tough enemies are going to be in etc. And of course, I like that this game has actually much more difficult than old SMB1 but its difficulty is not standing on game physics and controls but it has the real difficulty that comes from obstacles and such... If old SMB1 would have everything that Mario Forever have then I guess, it would be real Kaizo type if not impossible. And it is created only by one creator. :)

And of course, I am not, it's creator. I am one single developer too but my work is often incomplete.  ::)

Thanks for clearing! Mario Forever didn't seem all that impressive. I think I have an old version. I got it from uptodown. Maybe I should look more into it.

Thank you! I'm glad you know sort of what I'm talking about. In terms of sound effects, I meant that they're echo-y and high pitched in some places, but hey still fit. Also, I don't really get a lot of games and projects complete either :P

-To Christian Game Maker-

There are newer and better versions available now. As I said, I would recommend the remake the most. I agree that it's not all impressive in today's times, but it was an early Mario fangame and one of the most popular ones. It kickstarted a lot of fangames but that doesn't excuse it from being bad in some people's opinions though, I'm just pointing out that it's pretty old.  :)

In my opinion, it's still fun and worth looking back on, if you're interested in fangames. However, it's definitely not the best.

Off the subject of MF (Mario Forever), a minigame creator would be easy to make if Ting Thing took my Button and menu creator suggestion. I could make multiple choice questions with prizes at the end. Like in SMB3 when you do the match up minigame you get a prize of lives.
